Shenton Safaris’ Stretch Booking Policy

We know you will be craving a retreat to our corner of the South Luangwa National Park once we all pass through this time of confinement. Whether you’re booking your first safari or you are one of our treasured repeat guest looking to return on safari with us, Shenton Safaris completely understands you may be feeling anxious and concerned about booking a holiday because of the unfamiliar position we are all in due to Covid-19.

ShentonSTRETCH is our solution to provide you with reassurance and flexibility when booking with Shenton Safaris. Finally, you can get your safari plans back on track! You can now book your stay with us without the uncertainty that Covid-19 has instilled in us all.

That is why in response to the novel corona virus we have launched our novel Stretch Booking Policy – ShentonSTRETCH – enabling you to book your next safari with more certainty. ShentonSTRETCH allows you the versatility to delay your safari and transfer your deposit payment to another date of your choice (during our season) within 24 months of your original holiday start date, free of charge. Get ready to start counting down the days to your safari!

ShentonSTRETCH Deposit – How does it work?

ShentonSTRETCH will apply to all existing and new bookings made for safaris that start from 18th May 2020. Therefore, this applies to anyone who has already booked a safari with us for this safari season and beyond with safari dates starting from 18th May onwards.

With ShentonSTRETCH as long as you notify us before the final balance payment deadline, which is 61 days before your safari date, we are happy to transfer your total amount of deposit paid to another date of your choice.

ShentonSTRETCH allows you to change your booking date with Shenton Safaris to another date of your choice, within 24 months of your original safari start date. This means your deposit is entirely transferrable to another date of your choice with no additional fees to pay.

We ask that any changes to your safari dates must be made to us in writing once you have chosen to STRETCH. Please be sure to communicate your new safari date request promptly to ensure you can have your preferred time of the season.


  • Q: How many times can I change my booking?

    ShentonSTRETCH entitles you to make 1 free-of-charge date amendment to your original booking. Once you have used your free Flex amendment, you cannot change dates again.

  • Q: What if I have paid a deposit for a group safari and want to change this to a non-group safari?

    All deposit monies paid for the safari at the original time of booking will be subject to our group booking policy. The portion of the deposit paid related to the non-group that wishes to Stretch will be re-allocated to the new booking as a deposit against the total value of the new safari.

  • Q: How long do I have to notify Shenton Safaris’ of a date change to my holiday once I have decided to Stretch?

    Make sure you let us know up to 61 days before your arrival date. At this point, you must notify us immediately of your new safari dates at the time of amendment.

  • Q: Is there a time limit within which I can rebook after I change my original booking?

    ShentonSTRETCH requires that you must take your holiday within 24 months of your original holiday start date.

  • Q: What if I want to move my deposit to a time which costs more or less than my original holiday?

    No problem. The total of the safari will be adjusted accordingly.

  • Q: Can I have a refund of my deposit – I want to cancel my booking altogether?

    Should you decide to completely cancel your holiday with us our standard terms and conditions apply. We can only offer you alternative dates within 24 months of your original holiday start date.

  • Q: Can I have a partial refund if I paid over 25% of the safari total?

    For outright cancellations, a 25% cancellation fee is due (50% for a group booking in peak season). Any deposits received over this amount will be refunded less a USD200.00 handling fee.

  • Q: What if you have booked me accommodation in another lodge, does Shenton Stretch apply there too?

    Shenton Stretch applies only to your stay with Shenton Safaris – the third party’s booking terms will apply to any third party services.

ShentonSTRETCH does not apply once you have entered the 61-day final balance payment period. At this point, you are obliged to pay for your holiday in full. Should you then decide not to come on your holiday, our usual T&C’s will apply.
