On our evening drive we found part of the Mwamba-Kaingo pride near Numbu lagoon, on a buffalo kill. We then heard a lot of lions calling and roaring, in the distance.

Some other lions from an unknown pride must have smelled the killed as they appeared out of nowhere – three of them, one sub-adult male and two females.

The two prides had a real fight but the intruders were quickly defeated and moved off realizing that they had no chance on the Mwamba’s territory. One of the intruder was injured in the battle. Something we’ll keep an eye on if we see them again.
